I press…

Toward the mark…

For the prize…

Of the high calling of God…

In Christ Jesus.

Phil 3:12-14  “Not that I have already obtained, or have already been made perfect; but I press on, if also I may lay hold of that for which I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.  (13)  Brothers, I do not count myself to have laid hold; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,  (14)  I press toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

We need to press on! Also, we need to forget the past! (Forgetting those things which are behind.)

Today on the Gospelstudy podcast, we look at these verses:

“That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” (Phil 3:10-11)

One thing is certain: Paul didn’t take his salvation for granted, or not continue to work out his salvation with fear and trembling.

“And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:” (Phil 3:9, KJV)
The King James Version here says “Faith of Christ,” while most other Bible translations read, “Faith in Christ.”
Which one is right? And why the different reading?
Find out the answer to that question today on the Gospelstudy podcast!

Taken from the Christmas carol, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, which comes from 2 Corinthians 5:18,

“And all things are of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and who gave to us the ministry of this reconciliation,  (19)  that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning their transgressions to them, and committing to us the word of this reconciliation.”
